Matar Paneer

img_5458This is a tasty gravy which you will surely like. The addition of peas adds extra taste to the paneer gravy. It can be taken as a side dish for pulavs, chapatti, naan and parota. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Paneer -1cup
  • Peas -1/2cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Garam Masala -1/2tsp
  • Lemon juice -1tsp
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1 inch piece
  • Elachi/Cardamom/Elakai -1
  • Cloves/Krambu -1
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -As required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Slice paneer into small cubes
  • Boil peas

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add cinnamon, cloves, cumin seeds, cardamom, green chilli and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomatoes and mix well till it gets soft
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then allow it to cool and grind it to a fine paste and pour the contents in a pan and boil
  • Then add paneer cubes and boil
  • Then add boiled peas and boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and lemon juice and switch off the flame
  • Matar Paneer is now ready!!!
