Urad Dal Vadai/Uluntha Vadai/Methu Vadai

Ulunthu Vadai or Methu Vadai is a tasty evening snack which you can enjoy with a cup of tea. You can also prepare this for any occasions too. It can be taken with chutney also. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Urad Dal/Ulunthu -1cup
  • Green chilli -2
  • Small onion -10
  • Whole pepper/Milagu -10
  • Curry leaves -1tblsp chopped
  • Water –As required
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil –For deep frying

Preparation:

  • Soak Urad Dal for one hour and drain water and grind by adding very little amount of water. Don’t add too much of water as it will become runny and making vadai will be difficult
  • Chop onion and green chilli into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Soak Urad Dal for one hour and drain water and grind by adding very little amount of water. Don’t add too much of water as it will become runny and making vadai will be difficult
  • After the batter is ready take it in a bowl with finely chopped onion, green chilli, curry leaves, whole pepper and salt and mix well
  • The batter should be thick
  • Pour oil in a kadai for deep frying
  • Take a polythene sheet and grease your hand with oil
  • Then take a small ball from the batter and pat it and make a hole in the middle and put it in the kadai and fry in medium flame till it turns red in color
  • Drain it in a kitchen towel and serve hot
  • Uluntha Vadai is now ready!!!
