Snake gourd Milk Curry/Pudalangai Pal Kulambu

IMG_4946This is a healthy dish made with snake gourd. This goes well with hot steamed rice. You can prepare this quickly in less time. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Snake Gourd/Pudalangai -1
  • Big onion -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Milk -1cup
  • Coconut -3tblsp
  • Green chilli -4
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -As required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind coconut and green chilli to a fine paste
  • Peel the skin from snake gourd and take the white portion which is inside and chop it into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add snake gourd and mix well till it gets cooked
  • Grind coconut and green chilli to a fine paste and add and mix well
  • Then add coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add milk and boil in low flame for 5minutes
  • Snake gourd Milk Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
