Onion Brain Fry/Venkaya Moolai Varuval

IMG_4860This is a tasty and healthy fry which you can prepare easily in minutes. It can also be taken as a side dish for chapatti, naan and parota. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Goat Brain/Aatu Moolai -1
  • Big onion -1/2
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1/4tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seerakam thool -1/4tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1/4tsp
  • Green chilli -1
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash brain well in water and chop it into small pieces
  • Chop onion  into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add fennel seeds and after it crackles add curry leaves, green chilli and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown
  • Then add goat brain and mix well till it gets cooked
  • Then add  pepper powder, cumin powder, and turmeric powder and mix well
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Onion Brain Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
