Kongunadu Dal Curry/Kongunadu Parupu Kulambu

IMG_4839This is a tasty dish and it can be taken with rice, chapatti, dosa and idli. It is easy to prepare and you can prepare this when you are in a hurry. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Toor Dal/Thuvaram parupu -1cup
  • Vegetables -1/2cup(Carrot -1/2, Drumstick -1 or anything as you wish)
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Onion -2tblsp
  • Garlic -5
  • Red chilli -5
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -As required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Pressure cook toor dal by adding 3cups of water and turmeric powder for 3whistles
  • Add water in a pan and cook the vegetables

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook toor dal by adding 3cups of water and turmeric powder for 3whistles
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, urad dal and cumin seeds and fry
  • Then add  onion and fry
  • Then add curry leaves, red chilli and crushed garlic and add it and mix
  • Then add the pressure cooked dal and add salt and boil
  • Add the cooked vegetables and boil
  • Kongunadu Parupu is now ready!!!
