Sugar Candy Rice/Kalkandu Sadam

IMG_4742 This is a creamy and delicious dessert prepared with rice, sugar candy and milk. It is very easy to prepare and tastes great. You can have it hot or cold. You can prepare this for any festival. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Raw Rice -1/2cup
  • Moong Dal/Pasi parupu -2tblsp
  • Milk -2 cups
  • Sugar Candy/Kalkandu -3/4cup
  • Ghee -4tblsp
  • Cashew nut -10
  • Raisins -20
  • Cardamaom powder/Elakai thool/Elachi powder -1/2tsp

Preparation:

  • Dry fry rice and moong dal separately for few minutes
  • Powder sugar candy

Procedure:

  • Dry fry rice and moong dal separately for few minutes
  • Wash rice and dal
  • Pressure cook rice and dal with 2cups of milk
  • Then open the cooker and mash it
  • Add powdered sugar candy and mix well
  • Pour 1tblsp ghee in a pan
  • Add cashews and raisins to it and fry
  • Then add it to the rice dal mixture and mix well
  • Sugar Candy Rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
