Palak Aloo Curry/Palak Potato Curry

IMG_4645This is a tasty curry made with palak and potatoes. It goes well as a side dish for chapatti, naan and parotas. It is very healthy as it has spinach added in it. For kids who hate to eat spinach you can prepare tasty curry like this and give and they will surely like it. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Potato -1
  • Palak leaves -1/2cup
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tsp(For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –>Click)
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Boil potato and peel the skin off and chop it into small pieces
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Boil palak leaves by adding water and then allow it to cool and grind it to a fine paste

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add green chilli, curry leaves and onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it gets soft
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add boiled potatoes and fry
  • Boil palak leaves by adding water and then allow it to cool and grind it to a fine paste and add this and allow to boil
  • Palak Aloo Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
