Ragi Muruku/Finger Millet Muruku

IMG_3995This is a tasty and quick snack which you can prepare at evening. You can prepare this for occasions like Diwali and Christmas too. It will be tasty and crunchy. You can use homemade ragi flour or you can use store bought too. You can also have this with tea for an evening snack. You can store this in an airtight container for up to two weeks. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Makes: 15small muruku

Ingredients:

  • Ragi Flour/Finger Millet Flour -1/2cup
  • Rice Flour/Arisi Maavu -1/4cup
  • Besan Flour/Kadalai Maavu -1/2cup
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1/2tsp
  • White Sesame Seeds -1/2tsp
  • Ghee/Butter -1tblsp
  • Water –As required
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -To deep fry

Preparation:

  • Make ragi flour at home or you can use store bought ones
  • Grease a muruku press with oil

Procedure:

  • Take ragi flour, rice flour, besan flour, red chilli powder, sesame seeds, and ghee in a mixing bowl and add required salt and mix well
  • Then add water little by little and mix it with your hands and knead to form a dough
  • Take muruku press and insert star press and insert some dough and start pressing it in a ladle so that it will be easy to flip it over hot oil

  • Pour oil in a pan for deep fry
  • Then insert the muruku and deep fry it on both sides and drain it over a kitchen towel and store it in an airtight container
  • Ragi Muruku is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
