Moong Dal Vadai/Pasi parupu Vadai

IMG_3813This is a tasty and healthy snack made with moong dal. It can be taken as a tea time snack or you can have it as a side dish for rice. You have to soak it before making vadai. It is a healthy recipes and you can prepare this as a snack for your children when they come from school. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Soaking Time: 3-5hours

Ingredients:

  • Split Moong Dal(yellow) -1cup
  • Green chilli -1
  • Ginger -1tsp chopped
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Asafoetida powder/Hing/Perunkayam –A pinch
  • Big onion -1
  • Coriander leaves -1tblsp chopped
  • Curry leaves 1tblsp chopped
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil –For deep frying

Preparation:

  • Wash and soak moong dal for 3-5hours
  • Chop onion into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Wash and soak moong dal for 4-6hours
  • Then drain the water completely and grind it to a coarse paste in a blender without adding water
  • Then add green chilli, ginger, cumin powder, asafetida, onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves and salt and mix it well
  • Then form small balls and flatten it with your hand
  • Pour oil in a pan for deep frying
  • Then drop the vadai and deep fry it on both sides and drain it in a kitchen towel
  • Moong Dal Vadai is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
