Capsicum Dal Rasam/Kodamilagai Parupu Rasam

IMG_4367This is a rasam which you can prepare instantly. It can be taken with steamed rice. You can easily prepare this when you are in a hurry. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Capsicum/Kudamilagai -1
  • Toor Dal/Thuvaram PArupu -1/2cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Tomato -2
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/2tsp
  • Tamarind –Gooseberry size
  • Red chilli -4
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -As required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Wash and chop capsicum into small pieces
  • Extract the juice from tamarind

Procedure:

  • Take dal, onion, tomato, capsicum and turmeric powder with enough water in a cooker and pressure cook it for 3 whistles
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and after it crackles add red chilli and curry leaves and fry
  • Then add water and add cooked dal and boil and add salt
  • Then add tamarind water and allow to boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and boil
  • Capsicum Dal Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Take dal, onion, tomato, capsicum and turmeric powder with enough water in a cooker and pressure cook it for 3 whistles
