Broad Beans Cluster Beans Fry/Avarakai Kothavarangai Poriyal

IMG_4413This is a tasty fry made with broad beans and cluster beans. It is very healthy and it goes well as a side dish with rice. You can prepare this easily in less time. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Broad Beans/Avarakai -1/2cup (chopped)
  • Cluster Beans/Kothavarangai -1/2cup (chopped)
  • Big Onion -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham Parupu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Green chilli -3
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Green chilli -3
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1tsp

Grind this coarsely without adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop broad beans and cluster beans to small pieces
  • Chop onion to small pieces
  • Grind coconut, fennel seeds and green chilli coarsely without adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion and fry
  • Then add broad beans and fry
  • Add cluster beans and mix well and cover and cook till it gets cooked
  • Then add salt and mix well
  • Grind coconut, fennel seeds and green chilli coarsely without adding water and add this and mix well
  • Broad beans Cluster Beans Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
