Kalkandu Vadai

IMG_4523This is a tasty and quick snack which can be made easily for kids. The taste will be very nice and will be surely be liked by all. As this is a sweet vadai kids will surely love it. You can put in any shape as you like. This vadai remains so soft for about a week and so you can prepare this and store in an airtight container.The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 45minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -3/4cup
  • Raw Rice/Pacharisi -1/4cup
  • Kalkandu/Sugar Candy -3/4cup
  • Oil –For deep frying

Preparation:

  • Wash and soak urad dal and rice for 45minutes
  • Powder sugar candy and keep

Procedure:

  • Wash and soak urad dal and rice for 45minutes and drain the water completely and grind it as fine as possible
  • Add powdered sugar candy in between but don’t add water
  • The oil should not be smoking hot
  • Do not fry more than 3vadai at a time. The vadai will be little brown than usual vadai as it has sugar in it
  • Make small vadas in any shape as you like and deep fry it in oil and drain it in a kitchen towel
  • Kalkandu Vadai is now ready!!!
