Drumstick Rice/Murungakai Sadam

IMG_4517This is a tasty rice with drumsticks added to it. It is very easy to prepare when you are in a hurry. It can also be prepared if you have leftover rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice -1cup
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1tsp
  • Coconut Gratings -2tblsp
  • Drumstick -1
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1/2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Salt –1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Cook rice
  • Pressure cook drumstick and take the fleshy part and keep aside

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilli, curry leaves and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomato and fry well and add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add coconut gratings and mix well
  • Then add fleshy part of drumstick and mix well
  • Drumstick Rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
