Besan Flour Idli/Kadalai Maavu Idli

IMG_4560This is a tasty idli made with besan flour. You can have this with chutney or any curry of your choice. You can prepare this for breakfast easily. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 1hour

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Idli Batter -2cup
  • Besan Flour/Kadalai Maavu -3/4cup
  • Baking Soda -1/4tsp(Optional)
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1/2tsp
  • Green chilli -1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Salt –As required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop green chilli into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Take idli batter, besan flour, baking soda, turmeric powder in a bowl and mix well and keep it for 1hour
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, green chilli and curry leaves and fry it and pour it on the idli batter and mix well
  • Pour this on idli pan and steam it till it gets cooked
  • Besan Flour Idli is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
