South Indian Mutton Curry

IMG_3496This is a tasty and spicy mutton curry. It can be taken with rice, idli, dosa, poori and chapatti. This tastes very nice and spicy and can be prepared easily. The flavor will also be nice and it will surely be liked by all. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Mutton -1/2kg
  • Small onion -1/2cup
  • Tomato -3
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -3tsp
  • Mint leaves -3tblsp
  • Coriander leaves -1tblsp
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Poppy seeds/Khas khas -1tsp
  • Cashewnut -5
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Mint leaves -1tsp
  • Coriander leaves -1tsp
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1/2tsp
  • Cloves/Krambu -2
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch stick
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Curry leaves -1 spring
  • Salt -As required
  • Oil –2tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Poppy seeds/Khas khas -1tsp
  • Cashewnut -5
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Mint leaves -1tsp
  • Coriander leaves -1tsp

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind “for Grinding” to a fine paste by adding water
  • Wash mutton well in water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a cooker
  • Add cinnamon, cloves, biriyani leaf and fennel seeds and fry
  • Then add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add mint and coriander leaves and mix well
  • Then add the grinded paste and mix well and add mutton and add water and close the cooker and cook for 5whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • South Indian Mutton Curry is now ready!!!
