Pineapple Biriyani

IMG_3855This is a tasty biriyani with pineapples added to it. This gives an additional taste and flavor to the biriyani. You can have this with any raita like onion raita, tomato raita etc. It is easy to prepare and surely it will be liked by kids. I have added carrot and beans but you can add any vegetables of your choice like peas, potato etc. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice -1cup
  • Big onion -2
  • Tomato -3
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch piece
  • Cloves/Krambu -2
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -3
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Green chilli -5
  • Carrot -1
  • Beans -5
  • Curd -1/4cup
  • Pineapples -2tblsp +2tblsp
  • Mint leaves/Pudhina -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves -1/4cup
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1tblsp
  • Ghee -1tblsp
  • Water -1 and 1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil –1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Wash and chop vegetables into small pieces
  • Chop pineapples into small cubes
  • Wash mint and coriander leaves and keep

Procedure:

  • Pour oil and ghee in a cooker
  • Add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, biriyani leaf and green chilli and fry
  • Then add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add carrot and beans and mix well
  • Then add curd and mix well
  • Then add mint and coriander leaves and mix well
  • Then add half of the chopped pineapples and mix well
  • Then add water and salt and allow to boil
  • Then add basmati rice and mix well and close the cooker and pressure cook for 1whistle in high flame and in low flame for 5minutes
  • Then open the cooker and add the rest of the chopped pineapples and mix well
  • Pineapple Biriyani is now ready!!!
