Turkey Gravy/Vaan Kozhi Kulambu

IMG_3759This is a tasty and excellent gravy made with turkey. The taste will really be fantastic and can’t be described in words. It can be taken with rice, idli, dosa, chapatti and parota. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 40minutes

Ingredients:

  • Turkey/Vaan kozhi -1/2kg
  • Big onion -3
  • Tomatoes -4
  • Green chilli -4
  • Ginger Garlic paste -2tsp
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch piece
  • Cloves/Krambu -4
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -4
  • Star Anise -1
  • Curd -1/4cup
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -3tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Garam Masala -1tsp
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraga thool -1tsp
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves -2tblsp
  • Salt -1 and 1/2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Clean turkey and pressure cook for 5whistles in high flame
  • Grind coconut and fennel powder to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, green chilli and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add curd and mix well
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt and mix well
  • Then add boiled turkey along with the boiled water and allow to boil. If needed add water and boil
  • Then add grinded coconut and fennel seeds paste and allow to boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Turkey Gravy is now ready!!!
