Raw Mango Curry/Manga Kulambu

IMG_3534This is a tangy and tasty curry made with raw mangoes. Those who love tangy flavor will surely love this. It can be taken with rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Raw Mango/Mangai -1/2cup
  • Big onion -2+1
  • Red chilli -2
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai Parupu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin Seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Coriander Seeds/Malli -1/2tsp
  • Tomato -2+1
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/4tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/2tsp
  • Coconut Gratings -3tblsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind coconut coarsely

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add channa dal, urad dal, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chilli and 2 chopped big onions and fry till onion gets golden brown in color
  • Then add 2 chopped tomatoes and fry till it gets cooked
  • Then add coconut gratings and allow to cool and grind it to a fine paste in a mixer
  • Pour 1tsp oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and 1 chopped onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add 1chopped tomato and fry till it gets soft
  • Then add the grinded masala and add turmeric powder and salt and add 1/2cup water and allow to boil till it reaches a thick consistency
  • Raw Mango Curry is now ready!!!
