Pineapple Rasam

IMG_3803This is a quick and tasty rasam with pineapples added to it. It can be taken with rice and it will taste so nice. You can easily prepare this when you are in a hurry. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Pineapple/Annachi palam -2slices
  • Tomato -2
  • Toor Dal/Thuvaram Parupu -1/2cup
  • Rasam Powder -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1/2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1/4tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Coriander leaves -2springs
  • Garlic -5
  • Mustard Seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Red chilli -2
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1/4tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop tomato into small pieces
  • Chop 1slice pineapple into small pieces and grind 1slice to a fine paste
  • Pressure cook toor dal and mash it

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, red chilli, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry
  • Then add chopped tomato and fry well
  • Add pineapple slices and mix it well
  • Then add grinded pineapple, rasam powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well and add water and boil
  • Then add cooked dal and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Pineapple Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, red chilli, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry. Then add chopped tomato and fry well. Add pineapple slices and mix it well
