Onion Coconut Curry

IMG_3708This is a quick and easy curry with a few ingredients only. It can be taken with rice, idli and dosa. You can easily prepare this when you are in a hurry. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Onion -1/2cup
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/4tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/2tsp
  • Tamarind Water -1/2cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice
  • Grind coconut to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a cooker
  • Add fenugreek, curry leaves and onion and fry till onion becomes brown
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add tamarind water and allow to boil and close cooker and cook for 2whistle
  • Then open the cooker and add coconut and allow to boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Onion Coconut Curry is now ready!!!

 Step by Step Procedure:
