Whole Green Gram Curry/Pasi Payir Kulambu

IMG_3077This is a tasty and healthy curry made with whole green gram. It can be taken with chapatti and naan. The taste will be nice and you will really like it and it’s very healthy too. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Whole Green Gram/Pasi payir -1/2cup
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -2
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Garam Masala -1tsp (Optional)
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1/4tsp
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1/2tsp
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Pressure cook whole green gram for 2whistles inhigh flame and in low flame for 10minutes

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add fennel seeds and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown ion color
  • Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft and till the raw smell leaves away
  • Then add water and allow to boil
  • Then add the boiled green gram and boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Whole Green Gram Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
