White Channa Gravy

IMG_3002This is an easy and tasty curry made with white channa. It can be taken as a side dish with chapatti, naan and poori. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • White Channa -1/2cup
  • Big onion -2
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp
  • Tomato -3
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/MAlli thool -2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1/4tsp
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp
  • Garam Masala -1tsp
  • Coriander leaves -1spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Soak white channa for 6-8hours and pressure cook for up to 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft and mushy
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, garam masala and salt and mix well
  • Add water and allow to boil
  • Then add cooked channa and boil
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and onion if you like
  • Tasty Channa Gravy is ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
