Onion Rasam/Venkaya Rasam

IMG_3048This is a quick and tasty rasam which is made very easily. You can prepare this easily when you are in a hurry. You can have with hot steamed rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Small onion/Shallots/Sambar onion -5
  • Garlic -5
  • Red chilli -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2tsp
  • Tomato -1
  • Tamarind water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Rasam Powder -2tsp
  • Coriander leaves -1spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, red chilli, garlic, curry leaves and onion and fry
  • Add tomato and mix well
  • Add tamarind water, rasam powder and salt and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Onion Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
