Ginger Rasam/Inji Rasam

IMG_2556This is a quick and tasty rasam. This can be taken with rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -1
  • Ginger -3tblsp
  • Garlic -5
  • Red chilli -3
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Ginger -3tblsp
  • Garlic -5
  • Red chilli -3
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop tomato into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice
  • Grind everything given under “For Grinding” to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves and fry
  • Grind ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, red chilli and pepper to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Then add tomato and fry
  • Add tamarind water and water and add salt and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Ginger Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
