Dry Ginger Curry/Sukku Kulambu

IMG_2677This is a tasty, tangy and easy curry recipe made with dry ginger/sukku. It is good to add this dry ginger in your diet and you can keep this curry weekly once for as it helps in digestion. It can be taken with rice or as a side dish for idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Onion -1
  • Dry Ginger/Sukku -1/2tsp
  • Garlic -6-8
  • Tomato -1
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Sambar Powder -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Coconut -3tblsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/4tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -3tblsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tsp
  • Dry Ginger/Sukku -1/2tsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind everything given under “For grinding” to a smooth paste by adding water
  • Mix the grinded paste with tamarind water and keep aside

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, curry leaves, garlic and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomato and mix well till it becomes soft
  • Grind coconut, pepper and dry ginger to a smooth paste by adding water and mix that with tamarind water and add it and add turmeric powder and salt and allow to boil
  • Dry Ginger Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
