Dal Rasam/Parupu rasam

IMG_2748This is a quick and easy rasam with dal added to it. You can take this with rice. Kids will definitely love this. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -1
  • Toor Dal/Thuvaram parupu -1/2cup
  • Green chilli -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Redchilli -2
  • Crushed Garlic -5
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Jeerakam -1/2tsp
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Rasam Powder -2tsp
  • Coriander leaves -2springs
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook toor dal and mash it and keep
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice
  • Chop tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilli, red chilli, garlic curry leaves and tomato and fry
  • Add tamarind water and boil till the raw smell goes off
  • Then add cooked dal and boil
  • Add salt and rasam powder and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Parupu Rasam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilli, red chilli, garlic curry leaves and tomato and fry. Add tamarind water and boil till the raw smell goes off
