Potato White Channa Gravy/Urulaikilangu Kondakadalai Gravy

IMG_2281This is an easy and tasty dish made with potatoes and white chick peas. It can be taken as a side dish with chapatti, poori and naan. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • White Chickpeas/White kondakadalai -1/2cup
  • Potato -2
  • Big onion -1
  • Green chilli -3
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tsp
  • Tomato -2
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1/2tsp
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Boil potato and white chick peas in pressure cooker
  • Chop onion to small pieces
  • Grind tomato to a fine puree

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add green chili and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Add tomato puree and mix well
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well
  • Add boiled potato and white chickpeas and mix well
  • Add water and allow to boil and add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Potato White Chickpeas Gravy is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Boil potato and white chick peas in pressure cooker
