Ivy Gourd Coconut Fry/Kovakkai Thengai Poryal

IMG_1416This is a healthy and an easy side dish made with ivy gourd. It can be taken as a side dish with rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Ivy Gourd/Kovakkai/Tindora -1cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1/2tsp
  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash and chop ivy gourd into small pieces
  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grate coconut

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and onion and fry
  • Then add ivy gourd and fry till it gets cooked
  • Then add chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add coconut gratings and mix well
  • Ivy Gourd With Coconut Fry is now ready!!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and onion and fry
