Ivy Gourd Chutney/Kovakkai Chutney

IMG_2415This is a healthy and an easy chutney made with ivy gourd. It can be taken with idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Ivy Gourd/Kovakkai/Tindora -7-10
  • Red chilli -3
  • Big onion -1
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1tblsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Tamarind -1inch piece
  • Salt –1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Wash and chop ivy gourd into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add red chilli, channa dal, curry leaves and onion and fry
  • Then add ivy gourd and fry well
  • Allow it to cool and grind it with salt and tamarind
  • Ivy Gourd Chutney is now ready!!!
