Garlic Onion Curry

IMG_2117This is a tasty and easy curry made with onion and garlic. It can be taken with rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Sambar Onino/Shallots/Small onion -3/4cup
  • Garlic -10
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/2tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Red chilli -8
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Fennel seeds/Perunjeerakam/Sombu -1tsp
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Red chilli -8
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Fennel seeds/Perunjeerakam/Sombu -1tsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and garlic
  • Grind chilli, coriander powder, fennel seeds and cumin seeds to a fine paste by adding water
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, urad dal, fenugreek, garlic and curry leaves and fry
  • Add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Grind chilli, coriander powder, fennel seeds and cumin seeds to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Add tamarind water, water and salt and boil
  • Garlic Onion Curry is now ready!!!
