Drumstick Leaves Fry/Murunga keerai Poriyal

IMG_2208This is a healthy and easy fry made with drumstick leaves. It can be taken as a side dish with rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Drumstick leaves /Murungai keerai -2cups
  • Big onion -1
  • Red chilli -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp

Grind this to a coarse powder without adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind coconut and fennel powder to a coarse powder without adding water
  • Wash drumstick leaves in water

Procedure:

  • Wash drumstick leaves in water
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, red chilli, cumin seeds and onion and fry
  • Then add drumstick leaves and fry till it gets cooked
  • Grind coconut and fennel powder to a coarse powder without adding water and add this and salt and mix well
  • Drumstick leaves Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Wash drumstick leaves in water
