Chow Chow Fry/Chayote Fry

IMG_2171This is a tasty and helathy fry made with chow chow/chayote. It can be taken as a side dish with rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Chow chow/Chayote -1
  • Mustard seeds- 1tsp
  • Channa dal/Kadalai parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves – Aspring
  • Big onion -1
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tsp
  • Coconut gratings -1/4cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Wash and peel the skin from chayote and chop it into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and channa dal and fry
  • Then add onion and fry
  • Add chayote and fry till it gets cooked
  • Add chilli powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add coconut gratings and mix well
  • Chayote Fry is now ready!!!
