Brinjal Poppy Seeds Curry/Kathirikai Kasa Kasa Kulambu

IMG_0938This is a tasty and spicy dish. This is a dish from Andhra. This can be taken as a side dish with rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Brinjal -3
  • Poppy Seeds/Kasa Kasa/Khus Khus -2tblsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1tsp
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Red chilli powder/ilagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp+1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop brinjal into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Dry roast poppy seeds powder and fenugreek seeds and grind it with chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and cumin powder
  • Pour 1tblsp oil in a pan
  • Add brinjal and fry and keep aside
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry
  • Add the grinded paste and fry
  • Then add tamarind water and salt and boil well
  • Add brinjal and boil well
  • Brinjal Poppy Seeds Masala is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
