Mysore Rasam

IMG_2149This is a tasty and quick rasam recipe. It can be taken with rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Thoor Dal/Thuvaram Parupu -1/2cup
  • Coconut -4tsp
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1tsp
  • Coriander seeds/Malli -3tblsp
  • Red chilli -4
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Hing/Asafoetida/Perunkayam -1tsp
  • Tomato -1
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop tomato into small pieces
  • Cook Toor Dal
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour 1tsp oil in a pan
  • Add coconut, channa dal, coriander seeds, red chilli, pepper and hing and fry and grind by adding water
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add tomatoes and fry
  • Then add the grinded paste and fry
  • Then add tamarind water, water, salt and cooked dal and boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
  • Mysore Rasam is now ready!!!
