Soya Beans Curry

IMG_1635This is a tasty curry made with soya beans. It can be taken as a side dish with rice, dosa and idli. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Soya Beans -1cup
  • Onion -1/4 cup
  • Tomato -1
  • Garlic -5
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Green chilli -3
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1/2
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/4tsp
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1/4tsp
  • Tamarind water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1/4tsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Grind coconut, coriander powder, turmeric powder and pepper powder to a fine paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook soya beans with water for 5whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and fenugreek in a pan and fry
  • Add garlic and onion and fry
  • Then add green chilli and curry leaves and fry
  • Then add tomato and fry till it becomes soft
  • Grind coconut, coriander powder, turmeric powder and pepper powder to a fine paste by adding water and mix well
  • Add this to cooked soya beans and mix well
  • Add tamarind water and salt and boil well and pressure cook for 2whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes and open and add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Soya Beans Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pressure cook soya beans with water for 5whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
