Snake Gourd Chutney/Pudalangai Chutney

IMG_1406This is a healthy and an easy chutney made with snake gourd. It can be taken as a side dish with idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Snake Gourd/Pudalangai -1
  • Onion -1/2cup
  • Peanuts -2tblsp
  • Red chilli powder/Mialgai thool -1tsp
  • Coconut gratings -2tblsp
  • Tamarind -1inch piece
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Wash and peel the skin and chop snake gourd into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Wash and peel the skin and chop snake gourd into small pieces
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add onion and fry
  • Then add peanuts and chilli powder and fry well
  • Add the chopped snake gourd and fry well till it gets cooked and the raw smell leaves off
  • Then add salt and coconut gratings and mix well
  • After it cools down grind it with some tamarind to a smooth paste
  • If you wish temper it with mustard seeds and curry leaves
  • Snake Gourd Chutney is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Wash and peel the skin and chop snake gourd into small pieces
