Roti Dal

IMG_1565This is a tasty Dal curry which can be taken as a side dish with chapatti. It is very healthy and its easy to prepare. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Moong Dal/Paasi parupu -1cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/2tsp
  • Red chilli -5
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Garlic -5
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/4tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Hing/Asafoetida/Perunkayam -1/2tsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook moong dal in a cooker for 3whistle in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek, red chilli and curry leaves and fry
  • Then add garlic and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add the cooked dal, turmeric powder and salt and boil well
  • Roti Dal is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
