Rice Idiyappam/String Hoppers

IMG_1768This is a traditional South Indian food. It consist of rice flour pressed into noodle form and then steamed. It can be taken with sugar and coconut gratings or with any gravy. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 5minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Store bought rice flour/Arisi maavu/Idiyappa maavu -1cup
  • Water -2cups
  • Salt -1/2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Boil water

Procedure:

  • Take rice flour in a bowl and add salt to it and mix well
  • Boil water and pour it over the flour and mix it well and cover it for 10minutes
  • Then knead it to form a dough and insert a portion of it into string hopper maker and spin it
  • Then steam it in an idli cooker for 10minutes
  • Rice Idiyappam is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
