Gooseberry Rice/Nellikai Sadam/Amla Rice/Usirikaya Pulihora

IMG_1540This is an easy and tasty variety rice made with gooseberry. It can be prepared easily when you are in a hurry. It can also be prepared when you have leftover rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 15minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice -1cup
  • Gooseberry/Nellikai -3-4
  • Peanuts -1tblsp
  • Red chilli -4
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham Parupu -1/4tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1/2 tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop gooseberry into small pieces
  • Cook rice and add 1tsp ghee to it and mix well

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilli and peanuts to it and fry
  • Then add curry leaves and goose berry and salt and fry well
  • Then add rice to it and mix well
  • Gooseberry Rice is now ready!!!
