Dindugal Seeraga Samba Mutton Biriyani

IMG_1591This is a tasty and spicy biriyani made with mutton. This seeraga samba rice gives a good taste to the biriyani. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 25minutes

Cooking Time: 35minutes

Ingredients:

  • Seeraga Samba Ricve -1cup
  • Mutton -1/4kg
  • Big onion -1
  • Green chilli -2
  • Biriyani leaf -1
  • Cloves/krambu -2
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch stick
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -3
  • Tomato -2
  • Red chili powder/Milagai thool -1/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1/4tsp
  • Mint leaves -1cup
  • Corinader leaves -1cup
  • Ginger -2rblsp
  • Garlic -1 and 1/2tblsp
  • Coconut milk -2cups
  • Lemon juice -2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required
  • Ghee -2tsp (Optional)

For Grinding:

  • Mint leaves -1cup
  • Corinader leaves -1cup
  • Ginger -2rblsp
  • Garlic -1 and 1/2tblsp

Grind this to a smooth paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Wash mutton well in water
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice
  • Grind mint, coriander, ginger and garlic to a fine paste by adding water
  • Extract the milk out from coconut and keep

Procedure:

  • Pour oil and ghee in a cooker
  • Add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, biriyani leaf, green chilli and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomato and mutton and fry well
  • Grind mint, coriander, ginger and garlic to a fine paste by adding water and add this and mix well
  • Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well and pressure cook for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Open the cooker and give a stir
  • Add coconut milk and allow to boil
  • Then add rice and close the cooker and pressure cook for 1whistle in high flame and in low flame for 3minutes
  • Then open the cooker and add lemon juice and mix well
  • Mutton Biriyani is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
