Chettinadu Chicken Curry/Chettinadu Kozhi Kulambu

IMG_1060This is a tasty chicken curry. It goes well with rice, dosa, idli, chapatti, naan, parota and poori. The taste will be so nice and you can easily prepare this curry. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 40minutes

Ingredients:

  • Chicken -1/2kg
  • Big Onion -2
  • Tomato -1
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tblsp(For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –> Click)
  • Curry leaves –a spring
  • Coriander seeds/Malli -3tblsp
  • Red chilli -5
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -2cm stick
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -4
  • Cloves/Krambu -3
  • Star Anise -1
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Coconut Gratings -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coriander seeds/Malli -3tblsp
  • Red chilli -5
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -2cm stick
  • Cardamom/Elakai/Elachi -4
  • Cloves/Krambu -3
  • Star Anise -1
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Coconut Gratings -1/4cup

Dry fry this and grind by adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Wash chicken pieces well in water and marinate with turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt for 15minutes
  • Dry fry and grind everything given under “For Grinding” to a smooth paste by adding water

Procedure:

  • Marinate chicken with turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt for 15minutes
  • Pour oil in a cooker
  • Add onion and fry
  • Add curry leaves and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add chicken pieces and a cup of water and pressure cook for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes
  • Open the cooker and pour it in a kadai
  • Dry fry coriander seeds, red chilli, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, star anise and coconut gratings in a pan
  • Grind it to a smooth paste by adding water
  • Add this paste and salt and mix well and boil
  • Then add coriander leaves and mix
  • Chettinadu Chicken Curry is now ready!!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
