Yellow Peas Sundal/Yellow Pattani Sundal

IMG_7714This is an easy and tasty breakfast recipe or you can have it as snacks too. You have to soak peas at least for 6-8hours before using it. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Soaking Time: 6-8hours

Ingredients:

  • Yellow Peas/Manjal Pattani -1and half cup
  • Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeerakam thool -2tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Green chilli -1
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Soak yellow peas for 6-8hours
  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Pressure cook yellow peas for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 5minutes

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook yellow peas for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 5minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add green chilli, curry leaves and onion to it and fry till it becomes golden brown
  • Then add tomato and fry till it becomes soft
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder and salt and mix well
  • Add the cooked peas and mix well
  • Yellow Peas Sundal is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pressure cook yellow peas for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 5minutes

IMG_7700Pour oil in a pan. Add green chilli, curry leaves and onion to it and fry till it becomes golden brown

IMG_8957Then add tomato and fry till it becomes soft. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder and salt and mix well
