Tomato Tamarind Curry/Thakkali Pulikulambu

IMG_0355This is a tasty curry made with tomatoes. It goes well with rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -4
  • Onion -1
  • Garlic -5
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Fenugreek/Venthyam -1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind tomatoes in a mixer

Procedure:

  • Take tamarind water and add tomato puree, chilli powder, salt and curry leaves and mix well
  • Pour oil in pan
  • Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, cumin seeds, garlic and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tamarind water and water and mix well and boil well
  • Tomato Pulikulambu is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Take tamarind water and add tomato puree, chilli powder, salt and curry leaves and mix well
