Ridge Gourd Skin Chutney/Peerkangai Skin Chutney

IMG_9414This is a tasty and simple chutney made with the skin of ridge gourd/peerkangai. It can be taken as a side dish with idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 25minutes

Ingredients:

  • Ridge gourd skin/Peerkangai Skin -1(Take the skin from one full ridge gourd)
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Pepper/Milagu -1tsp
  • Thoor Dal/Tuvaram Parupu -1tblsp
  • Red chilli -2
  • Tamarind -1inch piece
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Take the skin from one full ridge gourd and chop into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds and after it splutters, add urad dal, pepper, thoor dal, red chilli and fry
  • Then add ridge gourd skin and fry well
  • Add salt and tamarind and grind it with coconut
  • Ridge gourd skin chutney is now ready!!!
