Potato Yellow Peas Gravy/Urulai Kilangu Pattani Kulambu

IMG_0075This is a tasty curry made with peas and potatoes. It goes well as a side dish for chapatti, naan and parotas. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Soaking Time: 6-8hours

Ingredients:

  • Potato -1
  • Yellow Peas -1/2cup
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Ginger garlic paste -1tsp(For homemade ginger garlic paste click here –>Click)
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Fennel powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeeraka thool -1tsp
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Soak yellow peas for 6-8hours
  • Chop onion, potato and tomato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it gets soft
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add potatoes and fry
  • Add soaked yellow peas and mix well and add water and close the cooker and cook for 3whistles in high flame and in low flame for 10minutes
  • Potato Yellow Peas Gravy is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
