Mutton Leg Curry/Aatu Kal Kulambu

IMG_9196This is a tasty curry made with mutton legs. It is very healthy and it goes well as a side dish with idli and dosa and it can also be taken with steamed rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 25minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Lamb legs -8
  • Big onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Coconut milk -1/2cup
  • Salt -1 tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Pressure cook mutton legs with water and cook for 6-8whistles in high flame
  • Chop onion and tomato into pieces
  • Extract the milk out of coconut and keep

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a cooker
  • Add mustard seeds and after they crackle, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add lamb legs and the boiled water and mix well
  • Add coconut milk and boil and pressure cook for 2whistles in high flame and in low flame for 5minutes
  • Mutton Leg Curry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
