Mutton Gravy

IMG_8607This is a tasty mutton masala which goes well as a side dish for rice, idli, dosa, chapatti, naan and parotas. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 10minutes

Cooking Time: 35minutes

Ingredients:

  • Mutton -1/2kg
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -2tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tblsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -2tsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tspCurd -1/4cup
  • Fennel Seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -1tsp
  • Big Onion -2
  • Curry leaves –A spring
  • Tomato -1
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Coriander leaves –A spring
  • Salt -1and 1/2tsp
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and tomato into small pieces
  • Wash mutton pieces well in water

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook mutton by adding chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, curd, water and salt for 5whistles in high flame and in low flame for 15minutes
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add fennel seeds and after they crackle, add onion and fry
  • Add curry leaves and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomatoes and fry till it becomes soft
  • Then add the pressure cooked mutton pieces and boil
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Mutton Masala is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
