Gooseberry Chutney/Nellikai Thokku

IMG_1361This is a tasty and easy recipe made with gooseberry/nellikai. It can be taken as a side dish for rice, idli and dosa. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Gooseberry/Nellikai -10
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds/Venthayam -1tsp
  • Asafoetida/Hing/Perunkayam -1/2tsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash gooseberry well in water

Procedure:

  • Wash gooseberry well in water and boil it in a pan with water for 15minutes
  • Then drain the water and chop it into pieces
  • Add oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, hing and chilli powder and mix it well
  • Then add the chopped gooseberry and mix it well
  • Gooseberry Chutney is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
