Fried Gram Rice/Porikadalai Sadam

IMG_8215This is an easy variety rice recipe which can be made quickly when you are in a hurry. You can also prepare this when you have leftover rice. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 20minutes

Cooking Time: 20minutes

Ingredients:

  • Small onion/Shallots -10
  • Tomato -1
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Green chilli -1
  • Fried Gram/Porikadalai -1/4cup
  • Coriander leaf/Cilantro/Malli leaves -2spring
  • Cinnamon/Pattai -1inch piece
  • Water -1/2cup or as required
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp+1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop small onion, tomato, coconut and green chilli
  • Cook Rice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add small onion and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add tomato and fry till it becomes soft and the raw smell goes away
  • Then add coconut and mix well
  • Then add green chilli, fried gram and mix well
  • Then add coriander leaves and mix well and switch off the flame
  • Allow it to cool and then grind in a mixer by adding some water
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After it gets heated, add cinnamon and add the ground paste and fry
  • Then add water and boil and add rice and mix with it
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves and pour over the rice and mix well
  • Fried Gram Rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
