Fenugreek Curry/Venthaya Kulambu

IMG_8327This is an easy and tasty curry which goes well with rice and as a side dish for idli and dosa. This curry can be easily done when you are in a hurry and you can store it for up to four days. The recipe is as follows

Preparation Time: 15minutes

Cooking Time: 30minutes

Ingredients:

  • Small onion/Shallots -1cup
  • Fenugreek/Venthayam -1/2cup
  • Garlic -5pods
  • Tamarind Water -1cup (Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal thool -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Water -1/2cup
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -3tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion and garlic into small pieces
  • Soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add fenugreek to it and fry well till it crackles
  • Then add onion to it and fry
  • Add garlic and fry till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well
  • Add tamarind water and water and boil it well
  • Fenugreek Curry/Venthaya kulambu is now ready!!!
